Raw Autumn Smoothie:

ingredients:

1/2 medium raw sweet potatoe (peeled and washed)
1 medium orange (peeled)
2 large handfulls red grapes (frozen or fresh)
1 cup water
sliver of fresh ginger
2-3 dried dates

Blend in Vitamix for 15-30 seconds for desired consistency

I made this last night as a pre-workout drink, drank half of it, and saved the rest for when I got back from the gym. I recently discovered kefir as well and decided to mix a tad of it in with some sprouted wheat cereal. Oh my gosh. Best. Breakfast. Ever. Kefir is basically liquid yogurt that has lots of awesome enzymes and probiotics. It's interesting to me how I used to be disgusted with plain tasting yogurt-anything, but have recently developed a palate for it. The bitterness of the kefir mixed with the sweet smoothie is amazing; plus it adds a more milky consistency that, when mixed with the crunchy cereal, really compliments the whole thing. It just works.

Yum Yum Chowder

Start this recipe by blending equal parts water to cashews or walnuts until smooth

Add the following and blend well:
1 cup water
1/4 cup olive oil
2-3 dates, pitted
1 cup chopped celery
Hot peppers to taste
1-2 cloves garlic
sea salt (optional)

Now just add the flavor! Some great options are: dulse flakes (for clamy taste), chopped broccoli, mushrooms, chopped tomato, grated carrots, fresh or frozen peas and corn. Get creative! I made this with broccoli (which usually leaves a bitter taste when served raw) but mixed with the chowder recipe it was creamy and delicious! Yum Yum!
